A primitive root; properly, to boil up, i.e. (figuratively) to be peevish or angry -- fret, sad, worse liking, be wroth.
KJV: And Joseph came in unto them in the morning, and looked upon them, and, behold, they were sad.
NASB: When Joseph came to them in the morning and observed them, behold, they were dejected.
