Of uncertain derivation; the hare -- hare.
KJV: And the hare, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.
NASB: the rabbit also, for though it chews cud, it does not divide the hoof, it is unclean to you;
KJV: Nevertheless these ye shall not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the cloven hoof; as the camel, and the hare, and the coney: for they chew the cud, but divide not the hoof; therefore they are unclean unto you.
NASB: "Nevertheless, you are not to eat of these among those which chew the cud, or among those that divide the hoof in two: the camel and the rabbit and the shaphan, for though they chew the cud, they do not divide the hoof; they are unclean for you.
