A primitive root; to engage for matrimony -- betroth, espouse.
KJV: And if a man entice a maid that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely endow her to be his wife.
NASB: "If a man seduces a virgin who is not engaged, and lies with her, he must pay a dowry for her to be his wife.
KJV: And what man is there that hath betrothed a wife, and hath not taken her? let him go and return unto his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man take her.
NASB: 'And who is the man that is engaged to a woman and has not married her? Let him depart and return to his house, otherwise he might die in the battle and another man would marry her.'
KJV: If a damsel that is a virgin be betrothed unto an husband, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her;
NASB: "If there is a girl who is a virgin engaged to a man, and another man finds her in the city and lies with her,
