Bible Study Exodus 4 Part 3 Walking with God will affect your family

Episode Summary

Walking with God will affect our family and relationships. How? When we submit to God's word He begins to work in our lives, to train us and to bring our relationships into covenant with Him.

Episode Notes

Once we begin to obey God, He begins to move in our lives and hearts. In the last podcast, we talked about the 7 things that will change in our life. We finished the first 3 points. Here are the next 4.

Exodus 4 Part 3 In Exodus 4 Part 3 we will deal with the other 4 items.

  1. Walking with God will affect our marriage and immediate family. Trying to obey the word of God may bring some hidden areas of marriage, we don't like to discuss, into the light. Why did God want to kill Moses? Moses hadn't obeyed God in his family because Moses did not circumcise one of his sons according to the Abraham covenant. (Gen 17:14) Because Moses had not, the son of Moses was to be "cut off from his people." The lesson we can learn is that our family must be in covenant with the Lord. Let's seek His wisdom on how to accomplish His will in our families. Podcast part 3 will deal with this strange passage.
  2. Walking with God will affect our extended family. Aaron was told by the Lord to meet Moses. Moses shared with Aaron all that the Lord had spoken and that they were to be a team to carry out the will of God. Aaron was now on board. Essentially, Moses shared the gospel (good news) that God was coming to redeem His people out of Egypt. Aaron responded. So often though, in our families, this is not the outcome. Let's press on to win others!
  3. Obeying God impacted their community. Aaron and Moses gathered the elders together and shared all that God had spoken, and as a result, it produced worship. We can take away from this that obeying the word of God is worship. God cares for us all. But He wants us lined up with His Kingdom purposes. What will you decide?
  4. Obeying and walking with God will affect the government if that is God's will. If we share according to God's will, He will deal with the results.

In our next podcast in Exodus 5, we see that people oppose the will of God and that we are to expect this opposition. Join Ric and Mary Joyner for this fun and interesting Scripture.

Exodus Chapter 3 Part 1 Lessons from the burning bush

Exodus Chapter 3 Part 1 is a pivot point in the Exodus story of the Holy Bible. We are at the time and place that God is acting on fulfilling prophecy or rather a promise to Abraham 400 years before! God speaks and it happens. This is how we know the Bible is true!  Prophecy is inherently related to the fulfillment of something God says will happen. Our God means what He says and as Kingdom people, we want to respond to His will and look to the reasons God is speaking, and for what purposes and to whom, and if there are outcomes our Savior is looking to create. The sons of Israel are in dire straits within Egypt. God is listening to their heart cries. Let us respond to His ways. Join our online bible study through our podcast for pewsitters.

Do you know we are in a time of prophetic fulfillment for the last days? How can we line up with what God is doing? Let’s take a look at how Moses is responding to being confronted by God with an interesting sign…a burning bush! How can we respond as Moses did? Our bible study will focus on why the children of Israel are in the wilderness, and why there are applications for us today! The wilderness is dependence on God. The Hebrew word for wilderness contains the word DBAR. This word is used many times when God speaks. In fact, it is a name for God. Yahweh Speaks. Our Lord wants us to obey His word and will speak to us when we desire to get under His rule in our lives. Exodus Chapter 1 Part 3: Facing fear...the kind that could end your life. When things look the darkest, God is in control. Exploring the sufferings of the Hebrews.

We are still in Chapter 1 and reading about some very brave Hebrew midwives who were told by Pharaoh to kill the Hebrew children. They disobey Pharaoh. WHOA, drama and tension heat up the story! They are called to provide an explanation to Pharaoh! Have you ever faced a fear that could end your life? The midwives did. But they chose the fear of the Lord over the fear of Pharaoh. They let God handle the outcome. At Biblestudycompany.com we feel it is easy to understand the fear of the Lord. It is not a cowering fear; it is the “fear to offend Him”. In this case, the midwives were protecting God’s Children from a wicked man. When things look the darkest, God is in control and we can learn either to complain, blame or turn and worship God for His future outcome. We want to live a praiseworthy life, so we respond by choosing the fear of the Lord and worship Him with thanksgiving in the midst of our fears and trials. We are also exploring the sufferings of the Hebrews and how they got into slavery.

We finish Exodus Chapter 1 with Pharaoh brutalizing the Hebrews. In addition, we are starting to look at several tools in our approach to scripture. A tool we love to use is immersion. Simply stated, we are immersing ourselves in the lives of the Hebrews. They will react like we would if we were threatened, for example. We are no longer viewing some of the Bible as stories for children, but as real people in extraordinary situations for our instruction. By taking this approach the Bible now comes alive with richness, drama, and depth. Join us and tell us what you think in the blog or on Facebook.

Notice another interesting phenomenon. There were many silent years in the bible and then prophecy is being fulfilled by an amazing series of events converging to an outcome. This outcome was the destruction of Egypt (Genesis 15:13-15) and another was Christ coming.
