1
And
after
six
days,
Jesus
takes with
Him
Peter, and James, and
John
his brother, and
brings them up
into
a high
mountain
by
themselves.
2
And
He was transfigured
before
them, and His
face
shone
like
the
sun,
and His
clothes
became
white
as the
light.
3
And behold,
Moses
and
Elijah
appeared
to them,
talking
with Him.
4
And
Peter
answering said to Jesus, Lord, it is
good
for us to be
here.
If
You wish,
I will make
here
three
tabernacles:
one
for You, and
one
for Moses, and
one
for Elijah.
5
While yet
he
was speaking,
behold,
a bright
cloud
overshadowed
them; and
behold,
a voice
out of the
cloud
saying,
This is My
Son,
the
beloved,
in
whom
I am well pleased.
Listen
to Him!
6
And the
disciples
having heard
it
,
fell
upon their
face
and were greatly
terrified.
7
And
Jesus
having come to
them
and having touched them, said, Rise up, and do not be afraid.
8
And
having lifted up
their
eyes,
they saw
no one except
Jesus
Himself
alone.
9
And
as
they
were descending
from
the mountain,
Jesus
instructed
them,
saying,
Tell
to no one
the vision,
until
the
Son
of Man
is risen
out
from
the
dead.
10
And the
disciples
asked
Him,
saying,
Why
then
do the
scribes
say that
it behooves
Elijah
to come
first?
11
And
answering
He said, Elijah indeed
comes
and
will restore
all things.
12
But
I say
to you that
Elijah
already
is come,
and
they
did
not know
him, but
did
to him
whatever
they desired.
Thus
also, the
Son
of Man
is about
to suffer
from
them.
13
Then
the
disciples
understood
that He spoke to them
concerning
John
the
Baptist.
14
And
they having come
to
the crowd,
a man
came
to
Him
kneeling down
to
Him
15
and saying, Lord,
have mercy on
my son, for
he is epileptic
and suffers
miserably;
for
often
he falls
into the fire, and
often
into the
water.
16
And
I brought
him Your to
disciples,
and
they were not able
to heal
him.
17
And
Jesus
answering
said, O
unbelieving
and
perverted
generation,
how long
will I be with you?
How long
will I bear with
you?
Bring
him here to Me.
18
And
Jesus
rebuked
him, and the
demon
went out
from him, and the
boy
was healed
from
that
hour.
19
Then
the disciples,
having come
to Jesus
in
private, said, Why were we not
able
to cast it out
?
20
And
He said
to them, Because of your
little
faith
.
For
truly
I say
to you,
if
you have
faith
as
of a mustard
seed, you will say
to this
mountain, Move
from here
to there, and
it will move.
And
nothing
will be impossible
for you.
21
22
And
while
they
were abiding
in Galilee,
Jesus
said to them, The
Son
of Man
is about
to be betrayed
into
the
hands
of men,
23
and
they will kill
Him, and on the
third
day
He will be raised up. And
they were deeply grieved.
24
And they having come to Capernaum,
those
collecting
the
didrachmas
came
to Peter
and
said,
Does your
Teacher
pay
the
didrachmas
?
25
He says, Yes. And
he having entered
into
the house,
Jesus
anticipated
him,
saying,
What do you think,
Simon?
From
whom
do the kings of the
earth
receive
custom
or
tribute?
From their sons,
or
from strangers?
26
And he having
said
, From the strangers,
Jesus
said
to him, Then the
sons
are
free.
27
But
that
we might not offend
them,
having gone
to
the sea,
cast
a hook
and
take
the first
fish
having come up,
and
having opened
its mouth, you will find
a stater.
Having
take
n
that
,
give
it
to
them for Me and yourself.
