A primitive root; to fell a tree; generally, to destroy anything -- cut (asunder, in sunder, down, off), hew down.
KJV: But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire.
NASB: "But thus you shall do to them: you shall tear down their altars, and smash their sacred pillars, and hew down their Asherim, and burn their graven images with fire.
