Of uncertain derivation; a margin, i.e. (specially), a fringe or tassel -- border, hem.
KJV: And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment:
NASB: And a woman who had been suffering from a hemorrhage for twelve years, came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His cloak;
KJV: And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.
NASB: and they implored Him that they might just touch the fringe of His cloak; and as many as touched it were cured.
KJV: But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,
NASB: "But they do all their deeds to be noticed by men; for they broaden their phylacteries and lengthen the tassels of their garments.
KJV: And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.
