(abbreviated Am. 8:8); a primitive root; to subside; by implication, to be overflowed, cease; causatively, to abate, subdue -- make deep, let down, drown, quench, sink.
KJV: And the people cried unto Moses; and when Moses prayed unto the LORD, the fire was quenched.
NASB: The people therefore cried out to Moses, and Moses prayed to the LORD and the fire died out.
KJV: Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down?
