Strong's Exhaustive Concordance

A primitive root; to draw together, i.e. Close; by implication, to leap (by contracting the limbs); specifically, to die (from gathering up the feet) -- shut (up), skip, stop, take out of the way.
KJV: If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother:
NASB: "If there is a poor man with you, one of your brothers, in any of your towns in your land which the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart, nor close your hand from your poor brother;
KJV: So the poor hath hope, and iniquity stoppeth her mouth.
NASB: "So the helpless has hope, And unrighteousness must shut its mouth.
