KJV: For thou hast made of a city an heap; of a defenced city a ruin: a palace of strangers to be no city; it shall never be built.
NASB: For You have made a city into a heap, A fortified city into a ruin; A palace of strangers is a city no more, It will never be rebuilt.
KJV: Hast thou not heard long ago, how I have done it; and of ancient times, that I have formed it? now have I brought it to pass, that thou shouldest be to lay waste defenced cities into ruinous heaps.
NASB: "Have you not heard? Long ago I did it, From ancient times I planned it. Now I have brought it to pass, That you should turn fortified cities into ruinous heaps.
KJV: O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea:
NASB: "If only you had paid attention to My commandments! Then your well-being would have been like a river, And your righteousness like the waves of the sea.
KJV: But I am the LORD thy God, that divided the sea, whose waves roared: The LORD of hosts is his name.
NASB: "For I am the LORD your God, who stirs up the sea and its waves roar (the LORD of hosts is His name).
KJV: Fear ye not me? saith the LORD: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it?
