Strong's Exhaustive Concordance

A primitive root; to hush -- hold peace (tongue), (keep) silence, be silent, still.
KJV: And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.
NASB: Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, "We should by all means go up and take possession of it, for we will surely overcome it."
KJV: But he himself turned again from the quarries that were by Gilgal, and said, I have a secret errand unto thee, O king: who said, Keep silence. And all that stood by him went out from him.
NASB: But he himself turned back from the idols which were at Gilgal, and said, "I have a secret message for you, O king." And he said, "Keep silence." And all who attended him left him.
